Come on back to your roots…

After a lifelong career, serving the community as a police officer, Jim Scarl was ready to get back to basics. Growing up on a horse farm, he wanted to harness the nostalgia of his past while giving back to his neighbors in a whole new way. His goal: acquire old and unused farmland and create a pristine homestead setting for others to make lasting memories.

In 2014, Jim did just that. After acquiring a 180 year old farm on 30 acres in Mantua Twp., he began to pour his blood, sweat, and tears (as well as countless hours) into restoring its original charm.

In 2019, with the help of his wife Cara and son P.J., a new 8,000 sq. ft. barn was constructed one board at a time - using traditional techniques - to replace the 1890 bank barn that had collapsed. This new multi-purpose barn built entirely of pine brought new life to the property, and a one-of-a-kind character to its pristine country setting. It’s all part of their grand vision to combine farming, livestock, and tourism into one unforgettable experience.

So come on down to the farm and see what their little slice of heaven is all about!
